“Clarifying ‘You Get What You Concentrate Upon’”

“A Game of Noticing Discounting”

“Look to Future Focuses in Interacting with Small Ones”

Participants: Mary (Michael) and Katrin (Duncan).

Elias arrives at 10:47 AM. (Arrival time is 17 seconds.)

ELIAS: Good evening!

KATRIN: Hello, I’m very pleased to meet you. Good evening – yes, it’s evening here in Europe. (Elias laughs) I’m a bit nervous but I hope it will pass. Can I start on my first question?

ELIAS: You may!

KATRIN: I only started recently to read your material on the website. I’ve got to say, I’m very much paying attention to myself, to trust yourself and accept yourself.

I came across a remark I’d like to know more about. When you start to see your beliefs and the choices you have, in this connection you made a remark that you do not have to use a thought process to concentrate on the alternative. This really confused me. I have worked with the Seth material for quite a while, and one of his often-repeated remarks is “you get what you concentrate upon.” I always believed to do it through thoughts. It came as a revelation to me that thoughts are a mechanism to translate, as you explain in your sessions. Now I am totally puzzled. I don’t know how you concentrate upon your newly discovered beliefs so that you could choose for getting out of your conflict or problem.

ELIAS: (Laughs) I am understanding your confusion; but let us examine this idea, so to speak. In this, I am not disputing what has been expressed by this essence of Seth. What I am expressing is a clarification of that statement, for your concentration is not necessarily associated with thought. In this, as you begin to pay attention to what you are actually doing and to your emotional communications, you may begin to recognize that you incorporate actions that are influenced by your beliefs, and those beliefs are what we may term to be expressed beliefs. Expressed beliefs are those beliefs that you concentrate upon.

Now; that does not necessarily involve thought, but it does involve automatic responses that you continue to generate. For example, as I have offered previously in discussions with other individuals, you incorporate certain actions each day within your focus automatically. You do not think about those actions, you merely do them.

Now; those actions are all influenced by beliefs. You express those beliefs through action, and the action is your evidence to yourself of where your concentration is directed. In this, let me incorporate an example that I have offered previously that most individuals may associate with. Most individuals incorporate an action of brushing their teeth each day. They do not express much thought if any in association with that action, but that action is expressed in association with the influence of a belief. The belief – or more than one belief – but one belief that is expressed in association with that action is protection.

KATRIN: Can I ask you one question? You say “action.” Does action include feelings? I’ve been living with quite a thick energy for the last three years, which manifests itself through panic attacks or very strong pulling in my chest. It’s always in my chest. This I believe is an automatic response. Is this feeling already an action? Because my action is going out to work even when I have this feeling or pressure in my chest – my action is driving a car, which I couldn’t do a year ago because of these panic attacks. Is feeling an action and then I automatically respond to something, which I haven’t figured out?

ELIAS: The feeling itself is not necessarily what you would term to be an action, so to speak, but you incorporate action in association with the feeling. The feeling is a signal. There is also a communication which is associated with the signal, which is the feeling. But many times if you are generating an intensity of a feeling, you do also incorporate an action in association with that feeling or that signal. In this scenario, you incorporate a physical manifestation, which is an action that is created in association with your automatic response to the signal, which is the feeling.

Now...

KATRIN: I believe that this thick energy, which I fear takes so much energy, comes from one of my root beliefs, which is if I do not do my duty I will not get the reward, which is related very much to another belief that there is somebody out there with authority to control and observe my actions – which is not a new thing for a lot of people, but for me to find out was pretty new. It only came across two weeks ago, and I had this wonderful voice in my head saying “excellent,” or something like this. But still I went around with this thick energy, even realizing when it comes about that I have a choice, that I can take a different book out now and tell a different story instead of saying there’s somebody up there watching me and who will punish me if I am not doing the right thing.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: Still this energy is very heavy. I mean it’s only two weeks, but I’ve probably been wanting some instant satisfaction.

ELIAS: I may be acknowledging, for you are beginning to address to this manifestation and this scenario that you have created repeatedly. In that, you are moving closer to the identification of the message, which is tremendously significant. For the signal continues as you continue to not receive the message or the communication. Once you have received and identified the communication, you may allow yourself to address to that communication and offer yourself choices. Therefore, the signal discontinues, for it is unnecessary any longer.

KATRIN: May I ask you – coming to my intent in this focus – I sometimes put myself on a cloud and look from this different angle to my life. I find it a very happy and a very easy-going life through a kind of efficiency. Then I’m happy and I think great, it’s so much fun and so on and so on. After a while, when I have made decisions in my life, changing countries, changing men in earlier days, or bringing up a child, I do it quite on impulse. The impulse is a happy moment and I change directions pretty quickly. But after a while, it’s usually followed by this hamster wheel. I get back to the old situation where I get my problems.

I have the idea quite recently that I can’t digest that I have a happy life and I feel guilty for it. This is a question that springs to my mind now for the last two weeks. I think this is a crazy idea. When you have a happy life you should be happy – or not should, but when you have a happy life, one can be very happy about it. But I discount myself immediately one or two days after making a very nice decision.

ELIAS: I am understanding. In this, perhaps as you notice yourself beginning to discount yourself, rather than struggling with that discounting of yourself, acknowledge it. For you reinforce the discounting in the action of fighting with it and attempting to force yourself to express differently.

In a moment in which you may be noticing that you are discounting yourself and you are expressing guilt – for you may view at times that your life, so to speak, is happy, but thusly or subsequently you begin to entertain the idea that perhaps it is not happy enough or that within that particular moment you are not experiencing that happiness, and therefore you incorporate guilt for not feeling that happiness in that moment – rather than struggling with yourself and attempting to force yourself to be acknowledging your happiness – which in that moment you genuinely do not feel – perhaps you may incorporate an exercise or a game, so to speak, in which you acknowledge that you are not experiencing that feeling of happiness in that moment and offer yourself an acknowledgment; perhaps offer yourself a point for noticing. This may distract your direction and interrupt your expression of discounting yourself, in that once you have acknowledged yourself, your automatic response may be playful with yourself, and therefore you may regain your happiness.

KATRIN: Thank you. I think I have understood.

Coming back to my intent in this focus, could you help me a bit as to what it might be? My impression is that I like very much concepts of esthetics and beauty which through efficiency have been achieved. Many people call me Mrs. Efficiency. Could you help me a bit with what my blueprint might be, to understand myself better?

ELIAS: In this, look to the entirety of your focus, my friend, not merely now but through the entirety of your focus, and allow yourself to discover the theme, the general expression that is associated with all of your experiences.

Now; in this, I may express to you that this element of efficiency is an avenue that you incorporate to express your intent – one of the avenues in which you express your intent in this focus. But also notice that if you are examining all of your experiences within your focus throughout the entirety of your focus, you may begin to recognize that a general theme that is consistent within your experiences is to be incorporating an exploration of change and risk.

KATRIN: Risk, that’s what I’m frightened of, ja.

ELIAS: Not necessarily risk in the terms of generating some action that may be considered as dangerous, but you have throughout your focus created an exploration of risk in the manner of change, generating changes that incorporate some element of riskiness or daring, so to speak, but not dangerous.

KATRIN: May I come to these questions? I tried to get some impressions, like my essence family. My impression is Sumari... I don’t know. Could I have your comments, please?

ELIAS: Essence family belonging to, you are correct, Sumari.

KATRIN: Alignment, I got the impression it’s Gramada.

ELIAS: Alignment, Zuli.

KATRIN: The orientation, common.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: And the color, black. (Pause)

ELIAS: As your focus color or as your essence color?

KATRIN: I don’t know the difference yet. I don’t know.

ELIAS: As your focus color, correct; as your signature color of essence, indigo.

KATRIN: I had the name... I’ll ask for it, the essence name, but for me it came up Carla.

ELIAS: That is a focus name that you have incorporated several times.

KATRIN: And the essence name?

ELIAS: Essence name, Duncan.

KATRIN: I had some surprise when I tried to get my focus type. I somehow came to religious focus, which surprised me in the first place, but I thought it probably could be.

ELIAS: Yes.

KATRIN: Could I ask the same questions for my daughter, please? So that we have some entertainment, because we were cross with each other earlier.

ELIAS: Ha ha ha! Very well!

KATRIN: It’s nice to find out how it comes about. My daughter... I’ve tried some impressions. The essence family, I thought it’s Vold.

ELIAS: Vold, correct.

KATRIN: And her alignment Gramada.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: For her color I have no impression at all.

ELIAS: Focus color, orange; essence color, turquoise.

KATRIN: For her orientation, I wrote down intermediate.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: And the focus type, emotionally focused.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: I got an essence name for her as well – Lira, L-I-R-A (LEER ah).

ELIAS: Correct! I am acknowledging of you!

KATRIN: This is correct? Oops! (Elias laughs with Katrin) It came during daydreaming.

To ascertain my partner as well, his essence family seems to be Sumafi.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: His alignment, I have no impression at all. This is very difficult for me.

ELIAS: Alignment, Borledim.

KATRIN: His orientation, I wrote down soft.

ELIAS: Common.

KATRIN: His focus type, emotionally focused.

ELIAS: Correct.

KATRIN: And name, I have no impression at all.

ELIAS: Essence name, Maximo (MAKS see moe).

KATRIN: I look after our four-year-old grandson, and we have quite a go together. He’s a handful for me and he challenges me quite a lot. I was wondering if I could ask for him as well. He gives me the opportunity to revise my concepts on how to bring up a child these days in this shift in consciousness. I find myself very often in the very old-fashioned way to treat him, and he really rebels against it. (Elias laughs) He drives me nuts sometimes! But what is his essence family, please?

ELIAS: And your impression?

KATRIN: I have no impression at all. I don’t know, I have nothing for him. Probably he could be Sumafi. He’s only four, but he tries to teach me correctness already and that comes very close to Sumafi!

ELIAS: You are correct. Alignment, Ilda.

KATRIN: Orientation?

ELIAS: Common.

KATRIN: And his focus type?

ELIAS: Political.

KATRIN: And his name, I’m very much interested in his name.

ELIAS: Essence name, Bradley.

KATRIN: Thank you very much.

I had several impressions or imaginations about other focuses and I would like to check them with you. I don’t know whether I imagined them or if it’s real information.

I have an impression of a woman in the Ice Age – I don’t know if there were even human beings around in the Ice Age – in what is now Mongolia. She was sitting on a horse, riding over white plains. She feels great, very powerful and connected with nature and the universe. This was one of my most wonderful impressions I had of another focus.

ELIAS: Yes, you are correct.

KATRIN: I have another one, which is a female Roman slave by a quarry who is selling precious stones to travelers. One rich traveler demands me as a woman. I fight and throw deliberately all the precious stones from a makeshift table down the quarry. I either throw myself down as well or get killed, I’m not sure. But I make eye contact with a male fellow-slave in the final seconds of this focus. I recognize him as my mate or lover, and it comes as a very great comfort. I was wondering if this is imagination or an impression.

ELIAS: It is not imagination. It is another focus of yourself, yes.

KATRIN: Did the eyes of this other individual... I’m pretty sure it was a man. Could you give me some information about this person? These eyes are very well known to me now and I don’t know if this is imagination.

ELIAS: No, this is not what you term to be imagination. This is another focus of Bradley.

Now; let me also express a clarification to you, my friend. Imagination is quite real. It is another form of communication that you offer to yourself. Therefore, it is not to be discounted, either. I am understanding how you are defining imagination and questioning whether your impressions are valid or not – which they are. But remember, imagination is another avenue of communication. Many times you offer yourself information concerning other realities through listening to imagination.

KATRIN: I have other impressions. Another is a woman again, during the European Reformation. She’s imprisoned and chained, feet and waist, to a wall in a castle prison. She’s imprisoned for quite a long time for practicing witchcraft, and she gets burned on a pyre. This impression has very much touched me.

ELIAS: Yes, this is another focus also.

KATRIN: Now comes a man along, at least! (Elias laughs) A very strong black man, shipped from the west coast of Africa to the Americas. I had quite some impressions from the crossing on the boat and the hardship I felt, viewing this transit. I somehow met a missionary in New England, definitely the east coast of America. There I meet a wonderful missionary who teaches me Christianity, reading, signs, all the necessary things to be an intellectual. I somehow accomplish quite an intellectual level of knowledge and have a family and a pretty comfortable life as a slave.

ELIAS: Correct. In actuality, if you are so choosing, you may investigate that particular focus in books, for that individual is associated with an event which occurred within America in association with the judicial system, in relation to what you term to be illegal slave trading. This individual was privy to the court case.

KATRIN: Really? Keeps me busy, ja! (Elias laughs)

Then I have another impression... This is so exciting; I have to watch the clock! There is an eight- or nine-year-old boy in Dickensian London. He’s a street kid. The elder sister, I believe, is somehow connected to my daughter in this focus. She gives me a warning when I run out of a house where I had stolen something. I deliberately ignore her warnings and get killed under the wheels of a passing carriage. When she watched me dying, I have the impression of the well-known eyes of my daughter in this focus, when she is upset with me. I was wondering if there is some connection between her and me, or if I’m correct.

ELIAS: Yes, you are correct. This is a shared focus with both of you.

Let me offer you one clue as to your male focus...

KATRIN: My only one!

ELIAS: Ha ha ha! But a significant clue – look to the word “Amistad.”

KATRIN: Oh, I have seen the movie! I was very touched by it. Yes, thank you.

Now comes my last impression. I put them in historical order, but it never occurs like this. My last impression I have no pictures to relate to, only a knowing. I am a young woman again, very attached to the suffragette movement in Germany. I feel very close to a well-known German communist, Rosa Luxemburg, who will be killed for her stand as a communist. I lose my life under similar circumstances as she does. I’ve never read her work but I feel very close to this individual called Rosa Luxemburg.

ELIAS: Correct, and actually did interact with that individual in that focus.

KATRIN: Then I have something I’m only aware of. I’m interested in the concept of the Renaissance, because of the beauty of the concept of the Renaissance. I once went to the National Gallery here in London and I saw a painting from those days where I recognized myself not only from the appearance and features, but there was this knowing that it was me. I do not know the painter or the name of the painting. When I tried to trace it later, I could not find it. But I was very much attracted and felt great when I looked at this picture. Is there something or do you have any comments on it?

ELIAS: Yes, you do incorporate a focus in that time framework, and also a brief interaction with the artist, as a model.

KATRIN: This is something I really would like to know as well. I had a time ten years ago when I was very unhappy with my professional life, because I didn’t have one. I was asking in my thoughts if a man could come along to provide me with money so I could study, read and do whatever I wanted to, to be a lady of leisure – which I was, but I didn’t have the money. I wanted a prince for loads of money.

In those days when I had these thoughts occasionally, not seriously but seriously enough, I visited an antique shop in London where the owner was as much attracted by me as I was by her. We were even quite look-alikes. Again, there was this knowing. She had a well-off husband who loved her to have this shop for fun, but she did not look very amused or happy, and this was my problem. I never thought about a prince afterwards, because I thought I don’t want to look like her. Is that one of these probable selves that you meet occasionally or you have the chance to meet when you intensely think about a concept that could change your life?

ELIAS: Actually, you drew yourself to this individual quite purposefully. You have engaged other focuses with that individual and the energy is familiar to you. Therefore, you drew yourself to this individual to offer yourself a point of information concerning yourself, which allowed you to alter a direction and alter probabilities. The individual was not a probable self but a familiar energy, for you have engaged other focuses with that individual.

KATRIN: Is it a focus I know now? Actually, I’m not really interested in this answer! (Elias laughs)

As I said before, I look after my four-year-old grandson several hours a week. It gives me so pleasure and so much hardship and so much choices to alter my view about small ones, as you call them, or kids, because you have so many comments about small ones in your material. I would like to know whether there has been a society in this dimension where children have been respected knowingly as essences who create their own life from the very beginning. This is a direction I would like to explore further.

ELIAS: Within the beginnings of your physical dimension, what I may express to be just subsequent to the Dream Walkers but prior to your evolutionary knowledge of the human species, there was an experimental incorporation of focuses in association with the new blueprint of your reality, in which briefly there had been expressed a society in which all individuals, including small ones, were recognized as essence and as directing of themselves. But let me express to you, this was somewhat different and a brief experiment, which was expressed subsequent to the Dream Walkers’ participation in generating the blueprint of this dimension.

Now; I may express to you, what may be more helpful and more in-depth, so to speak, as to information concerning what you wish to be exploring in association with small ones, perhaps you may incorporate the suggestion that you investigate future focuses. Within future focuses, this is an accepted expression and a mass expression within societies within your world, for there is a genuine recognition that small ones are directing of themselves and generating their choices, and there is a difference in how they are interacted with by individuals in future time frameworks.

KATRIN: Well, I’m through with all my questions. Is there anything you’d like to say? I’m so satisfied now, I’m through. (Laughs) I’ve just got another five minutes, and I wondered if you had anything to say.

ELIAS: I may express to you a reminder to be playful, and to be engaging your game to be acknowledging of yourself and therefore interrupting your patterns of discounting yourself and incorporating your anxieties. In this, allow yourself to view your grandson, and be playful with him and with yourself in the same manner that you are with him. This may be quite helpful in generating an avenue in which you may be expressing much more of an acceptance of yourself.

KATRIN: I just started to play football with him and these kinds of things I rejected to do so far. I always said you have to do it with your mother. But now I’m doing it. It took me quite a while to be engaged in playfulness with him. Before, I always wanted to teach him something, and he can teach me much more than I thought.

Thank you very much! This was such a wonderful hour.

ELIAS: You are very welcome, my friend. I shall be anticipating our next meeting.

KATRIN: Me too, in Germany.

ELIAS: To you in tremendous affection and great supportiveness, my friend, au revoir.

KATRIN: Thank you very much. Bye-bye.

Elias departs at 11:31 AM.
