the Elias forum Newsletter, March, 2006 What’s New? Over 1.8 million webpages served! Since opening our cyberdoors in February 2002, we have served over 1,866,200 webpages to more than 100,000 visitors in over 120 countries! We also had over 21,700 visits last month. Many thanks to all of you who continue to provide us with tremendous support, constructive suggestions, and email feedback. Updated Elias forum Contact List Myrna recently updated her list and sent it along. If you wish to update your info or add it, please contact Myrna directly. Thank You New Transcribers! In the December and January newsletters we asked for volunteers to help with the ongoing transcription work, and a bunch of you responded! So many, in fact, that Bobbi Houle had to send me a note to say "we have enough!" So we wanted to thank all of you who have stepped up to help out. That includes Donna Friedman (Luera), Naomi Goodin (Kallile), Wendy Beall (Luelyth), and Sue Trainor. There are others in the wings, you know who you are, and we wish to thank all of you for helping to make the Elias transcripts available to everyone! Thank You Additional Volunteers! We also asked for volunteers to help out help out with the session indexing. We would like to thank Katrin Klinger, Ed Johnson, and Michele Gonzales in advance for their efforts in this area. If you are interested in contributing to the Elias forum legacy projects, please contact Paul H. at helfrich@eliasforum.org New Spanish Section in Progress Thanks to the continuing hard work of Olga Zuvic, Crizi Poust, George DeMello, and Gerhard Fuchs we’re working on adding a Spanish section to the Elias forum website. As most know, Spanish is spoken by more folks than English, so this work will make Elias available to hundreds of millions of potential new readers. Olga and George are doing most of the translation work, and George is busy translating key webpages for the Introduction section that organize all the Transcripts and Digests. Many thanks to all of you! Archive Project Updates The DVD Archive is one of those “behind the scenes” projects whose goal is to ensure that the legacy of the Elias forum continues long after we’re gone. At last count, Mary had recorded over 1,900 sessions on videotape, and recently began recording direct to DVD. Since DVDs take up less space, we began to transfer the ’95 sessions from Ron and Cathy Churchman’s video archive. We’ve finished through session 464. Michael Friedman recently volunteered to continue the DVD process, and Ron has begun to send him tapes. Thanks Michael! The 1995 transcripts are one third done, as we have finished through session 21. That means only 42 more to go! Support Our Work We’d like to express our heart-felt appreciation to those of you who continue support our work and help defray expenses on the website. Thank you! Gem of the Month The Gem of the Month is a regular feature that provides an excerpt from a recent transcript that captures a snapshot of essential Elias. This month’s gem is taken from Paul H.’s private session: PAUL: “... Just one more question then for today, old friend. (Elias laughs) The idea of – let me frame the question, I realize that’s so important in the way you answer – in the context of this acorn-sapling-tree developmental stages in time (Elias nods several times), from this focus of attention, from the essence focus of attention, it’s a simultaneity, recognizing that – as we go through that, the ten belief systems that you’ve presented to us as general areas of beliefs that work together are present in the acorn, they’re present in the sapling, they’re present in the tree to different degrees, and therefore….” ELIAS: “Not to different degrees. They are all present continuously. The distinction is that they are not all expressed.” PAUL: “Right. Okay. And, okay….” ELIAS: “They are….” PAUL: “As they get expressed, as we develop and go through our developmental stages – and this is a moral question (Elias nods). Okay, this is a tricky one. This is duplicity, the belief system of duplicity is present. And let me just ask you this question – in your context, the belief system of duplicity would be the area where we would look at morals and ethical belief systems?” ELIAS: (Nods) “Yes.” PAUL: “Where we judge good and bad?” ELIAS: “Yes.” PAUL: “As opposed to the other nine, which deal with relationships, I mean, and that as you stated the belief system of duplicity is nested within the other nine…” ELIAS: (Nods throughout) “Correct.” PAUL: “…and so that moral judgment is always present…” ELIAS: “Correct.” PAUL: “…and with our relationships, with emotion, sexuality, and on with the others. So all I’m just trying to get is that this belief system of duplicity, it changes in time also. It goes through a, what we could loosely call, an acorn, sapling, and tree stage.” ELIAS: “That would be quite figurative…” PAUL: (Laughs) “Okay.” ELIAS: “…for it is not a development. Do not misunderstand. You incorporate all of the beliefs within all of the belief systems from the moment that you choose to be participating in this particular physical reality. Now; you express relatively few beliefs within each belief system. I am aware that it appears to each of you that you express many beliefs in association with each belief system, but in relation to the countless beliefs which are contained within each belief system, relatively speaking, you express few. “Now; those are not absolute either. They change. The beliefs do not change, but which beliefs are expressed may change. Some beliefs you continue to express throughout the entirety of your focus, but some you do not. You may move your attention in association with different directions that you incorporate within one focus and that may alter which beliefs are expressed. “An indicator of this that you may obviously objectively recognize is preferences. Preferences change. You may incorporate certain preferences in one time framework and within another time framework you may incorporate other preferences. Preferences are merely preferred expressed beliefs. And in viewing how your preferences change, you also indicate to yourself that other expressed beliefs also change and may become non-expressed beliefs and exchanged for other beliefs to be expressed.” PAUL: “That makes sense.” ELIAS: “This is the significance of genuinely generating an objective understanding of what you actually incorporate within this physical dimension – that beliefs are not your enemy and that they are not to be eliminated, but rather that you move your awareness to a wider expression and recognize that you actually incorporate a myriad of beliefs to choose; which rather than your familiar association with beliefs in automatically viewing them as bad, the point is to recognize that they are an integral expression and design of this physical dimension and to be incorporating optimum movement and creativity within this physical dimension to allow yourself to be incorporating the choice of all of them. Use them rather than attempting to eliminate them. And the manner in which you use them efficiently is to neutralize them in association with judgment. “Now; as I have stated, duplicity is a belief system also, and it incorporates beliefs also. And those are not to be eliminated either, but rather to be recognized in relation to preference or the lack of preference, not in absolutes. But you may continue to incorporate your opinion and your preferences, knowing that they are relative to you, and not an absolute.” PAUL: “Right, and at some point, at some point in linear terms, the awareness, the focus of attention becomes aware of what you just said – preference, opinion – as opposed to absolute.” ELIAS: “Correct.” PAUL: “So it’s not inherent in the acorn stage, necessarily, or is it?” ELIAS: “That awareness?” PAUL: “Yes, that awareness.” ELIAS: “The potential of that awareness, yes, is.” PAUL: “But oftentimes, more often than not, that potential is not anywhere near fully realized in the preconventional stages.” ELIAS: (Nods) “Correct. In this time framework and throughout your history, you are correct. But this is the reason that you are incorporating this shift in consciousness.” PAUL: “So are you suggesting, then, that post-shift that the preconventional stages will be more aware of that potential awareness, will be more fully manifest in the preconventional stages?” ELIAS: “Yes.” PAUL: “Oh, that’s good news. See, there, I made a judgment! (Both laugh) But that makes sense as far as the shift, and that would be a huge shift from where we are presently.” ELIAS: (Nods) “Yes, you are quite correct.” PAUL: “And just the last question then. The ten belief systems – they’re general, you know, we could divide them up other ways too, I suppose, but it covers a spectrum – those ten are inherent in the blueprints.” ELIAS: “Yes.” PAUL: “So that as an essence, when it manifests, say, 1200 focuses – woof! – those ten are in all 1200 focuses.” ELIAS: (Nods) “Yes.” PAUL: “Yeah, okay, that’s consistent with your model as you’ve explained it so far. Well, I guess that does it for me today, old friend!” ELIAS: “Ha ha ha! Very well. (Paul laughs) I shall be anticipating our next discussion. Ha ha ha!” [session 1357, May 29, 2003] Digests: find out more about belief systems. Resources for Newcomers New to the information? Want to share it with someone else? Monthly Musings - The Ten Beliefs Systems: Scientific Last month we explored the eighth of the ten belief systems: religion/spirituality. This month we move onto science, the belief system that attempts to explain elements of physical reality through reason, intellect, and rationality. Like each of the ten foundational belief SYSTEMS, science provides a means for us to better understand who we are, why we are here, and where we are going.
Science covers a wide array of beliefs that range from how things work to solving problems through invention and discovery. There are a wide range of sciences we use today. For instance, physics and chemistry deal with nonliving matter. Biology deals with self-replicating life forms, from single cells to human beings. Paleontology, anthropology, and archeology deal with how those life forms evolved over hundreds of millions of years. More recent sciences deal with psychology, human development, social systems, economics, cosmology, astrophysics, and so on. The universe is a big place, and humans have created dozens of ways to explain how it all works. The premodern religions also attempted to explain how the universe works, and still do today. What makes religion and science different are the methods they use to create, interpret, and verify data. The main difference between religion and science is that science deals with facts, third person perspectives, and objectively verifiable theories. Religion is based on faith and introspection. The most successful scientific theories predict behavior and outcomes. The results have been impressive in the past couple of centuries, for example, putting people on the moon, building the Internet, telecommunications systems, medical marvels, and on and on. But there has also been a shadow side, namely, weapons of mass destruction, and continued poverty, racism, slavery, and so on. In terms of mainstream or officially accepted reality, the pronouncements of scientists validate and legitimize everything from medicines, diets, and safer cars to surgical procedures, healthier work environments, and energy efficient technologies. And yet, science is a process, a method that produces data that must be interpreted by a community of the adequately trained. As such, it is a profession open to new methods, new interpretations, or what have come to be called paradigm shifts. There can be controversy, too, as new claims must be verified or junked. So scientific beliefs by nature tend to exist in a state of flux and change. Elias’ view of science provides a unique lens in which to better understand how this belief system affects us. As usual he does not invalidate it, says we are not eliminating it, but tries his best to help us notice how it works in relation to the rest of our belief systems.
Elias has also consistently pointed out that science fiction is often a precursor of science fact. For instance, think of the visionary works by H.G. Wells and Jules Verne.
Furthermore, Elias has hinted that there are new technologies that are most probable in the coming decades including faster than light travel, recording dreams, and a cure for Alzheimer’s. If he is anywhere close, then we have a lot to look forward to! However, Elias points out that our belief in modern science to provide all the answers is based upon the same kind of faith used in premodern religions. As such, what sociologists call scientism is the fanatical, almost religious adherence to scientific method as the only way to know truth and what provides adequate evidence of the true. Of course, Elias doesn’t use the term “scientism,” and yet he obviously understands the limits of scientific methods and knowledge.
As we assimilate the information offered by Elias, he continually returns to the basic themes of accepting and trusting self in the context of creating all our reality. While it seems simple, it is no small task! This information is intended to help us become more aware of the many relationships between these main belief systems, and how we use them to create all our reality. So our exploration of belief SYSTEMS inevitably returns to a call for acceptance and trust.
Another main theme is the shift in consciousness, which began at the start of the twentieth century and will be completed, more or less, by the end of the third quarter of this century. As such, humanity in the midst of the birth pangs of emerging postmodern worldviews that embrace the gems of premodern religious worldviews and modern scientific worldviews. However, these worldview dynamics are anything but peaceful. As the world shifts, evolves, and changes there is always resistance by the status quo to change. According to Elias, a key part of this shift includes a widening of awareness which through enhanced use of unofficial information and periphery. In other words, through the use of altered states that more fully engage our inner senses. But these are still not supported by the mainstream, and get labeled as demonic in religious worldviews, and pathological in modern worldviews.
I keep hearing the Borg mantra from Star Trek, Next Generation, “resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.” And yet, these changes will have their own growing pains. The emerging postmodern psyche refuses to be held back! So these complex worldview dynamics hold the potential for trauma, and I believe this is one way to imagine what Elias means when he talks about trauma of the shift.
Now, there have been attempts to bridge science and spirit. And this is one of the key frontiers of postmodern thought in my view. However, the road is laced with difficulties on several layers. How to best create the bridge? How to mine the gems of premodern religions and modern science and morph them into a new worldview? Unfortunately, there are no simple answers, but many now realize that new paradigms are required. However, there is so much money, power, and prestige tied up in current institutional forms of religion and science that any bridge will not occur until all parties widen their awareness to see that body, mind, and spirit are merely aspects of the whole.
So postmodern worldviews will have to embrace new disciplines that will be neither sciences, nor religions because they will bridge both. These disciplines will be unlike anything we’ve seen in the past, because they will acknowledge the role of consciousness and spirit. It will require that scientists develop their own inner senses and abilities to engage altered states in communally verifiable ways. The results of these postmodern “dream-art sciences,” to use Seth’s term, will help to solve many of the problems we now face on a global scale including affordable housing, health care, education, and mutual coexistence for over six billion people. Once again, we’ve covered a lot of ground! But this belief system of science is another BIG belief system. So for this month, we are going to apply our noticing practice (NIRAA) to scientific beliefs in relation to this shift. For the first week, simply notice during the day when scientific beliefs arise in your awareness. Nothing further, simply notice them arise. The key for the first week is to mindfully practice noticing. The goal is to hone our attention by noticing. This is a passive part of the practice. Resist the temptation to actively engage your thought process. Then, during the beginning of the second week, reflect back on the first week in toto, and explore the frequency of scientific beliefs. Were there times when you noticed them that surprised you? (If you are really doing the noticing, this should happen ;-) What different contexts did they occur in? Etc. Notice, that we’ve moved into the identifying and recognizing part of our NIRAA practice. See how seamless this works? Now, for the rest of the second week, simply continue to notice, identify and recognize what scientific beliefs arise in your awareness. Don’t worry about addressing to or accepting. This is a BIG area. As usual, don’t go crazy, simply do the practice for 5-10 minutes throughout each day, and let it go at that. The basic idea, as always, is to notice self in relation to others, and be consistent with the practices. With a little persistence, you will begin to notice how important the belief system of science is in understanding how we create all our reality. Publication date 25 October 2004
For more information, please contact annek@contact-publishing.co.uk At this time in our world we are all asking questions of ourselves and others such as, “What is my purpose?” and “What is truth?” and “What is death?” We are questioning the validity of our governments and our religious institutions. The Shift: A Time of Change offers the answer to these questions. First time author David Tate has waded through the voluminous information delivered by Elias/Mary Ennis to compile a GEM of the Elias material and has shaped The Shift: A Time of Change into a definitive reference guide of the most popular topics of the Elias material. All of the readers of the popular Seth/Jane Roberts books will identify with the information delivered by Elias/Mary Ennis in that it is channelled material. Like Seth, Elias is an essence who brings forth explanations of our world, ourselves and that we create our reality. The mantra, “You create your own reality,” was originated by Seth. Seth further explained that our beliefs create our reality. However, Elias clarifies that in order to change our realities we must accept our beliefs. In The Shift, Elias delves deep into the fundamental questions we all have concerning truth, karma, beliefs systems and God. “You are moving to the creation of a new expression of your physical reality as you know it. In this, not only your technology shall advance and be created differently, but all of your reality shall be altered and shall be different.” Synopsis The Shift: A Time of Change is a compilation of transcripts that have been delivered by Elias/Mary Ennis since 1995. The phenomenon of Elias began in 1995 and, through Mary Ennis, Elias has given private and group readings to people around the globe. This book encompasses the gems of that information that addresses everyone on the planet. This is the first book within a series. TABLE OF CONTENTS:
